Laid off at 44

I wrote this song after watching a close friend get laid off after fifteen years of total dedication. It’s about the silent shock, the quiet drive home, and the heavy weight of starting over when you’ve given your best years to a system that easily moves on. More than a story about job loss, it’s about resilience, fatherhood, and finding the strength to keep showing up for the people who matter most.
